If you remember well (you can check newspaper archives), when Kadress Pillay was Labour Minister of Health, he started offering Renal Dialysis. If you still remember well, it WAS NOT FREE AT FIRST!

He created a separate firm which was in charge of dialysis and it made patients pay a sum of money at each session.

Dialysis became free only after protests under popular pressure.

That is Labour philosophy! Make people pay!

Now, Satish Faugoo has taken a decision to give the New Souillac Hospital to an Indian group for eye surgery.

So far so good, but now we hear the operations will have to be paid for!

When the people have to pay for services in a Government Hospital, we call that PRIVATISATION, because there always will be some who cannot afford the money. Even if they are offered help, they often lose their chance because of delays in the payment process.

We say: Health is a right for all and must be available to all!

If Faugoo says Government will save 20 million rupees with this project, then why not give 10 million yearly to make the eye clinic free for all people?
