Le militant. Info. MMM PRESS ORGAN IS PURGING PRESS ARTICLES THAT APPEARED IN ITS PREVIOUS PUBLICATIONS. THE ELECTRONIC PAGE OF THE MMM NO LONGER MAKES AVAILABLE TO READERS THOSE ANALYSIS OF NATIONAL ECONOMIC MISMANAGEMENT AND IS SHEWDLY BLOTTING OUT THEIR ROBUST CRITICISM OF SITHANEN DEVELOPMENT AGENDA. A VERY HIGH REBUKED MEASURE THAT ALREADY GIVES THE TASTE OF THINGS TO COME .

the actual government became more weaker that is why they are looking for a good support.Anyway we are here to work together if needed but not but not being used by them like berenger did!so its clear navin can do anything to win this election even by hook or by crook. So we must be clever and the most important thing is to make people trust us,how to do it, is our aim!!!

Trust our leader.

I propose a “supermarkets ombudsman” and reckons that Mr. Pavin Jungnauth and the MSM party can and should play a role in establishing the post. We need more care in holding together the environmental and conservation agenda with the food production agenda in some areas. It will be engaging to see what others, for one, makes of such proposals. But nothing will happen, will it, without political, as well as religious, citizen conviction? I think we’ve lost a sense of what we really understand by public virtue. Character is something that has fallen off the radar for quite a lot of people. I would like to hear our political leaders saying something similar from their public pulpits before the election? I am making no political predictions, but : “I’d be very happy if they did, yes.” Wish that Mr. Praveen Jugnauth take control of the coutry economy for he already showed his « Coup de Maitre ». His proposal for making Mauritius a Duty free island still stands good, and if it had received further push, we may be able to purchase for example mobile phone at a much cheaper price. Trust me when I say that an Ebay mobile phone purchase turn around Rs12000 while the same brand and model presently being sold at Rs27,500. Sithanen chamaleon economic style bears a lot of ballooning promise though nothing ever become acessible to the average citizen. Year after year the National budget is much sound and promises – hardest of all the tax burdens like charges on bank savings, the NRPT are likke hammer blows. Economic activity is something people do, one kind of activity among others; and as such it is subject to the same moral considerations as all other activities. It has to be thought about in connection with what we actively want for our humanity. And questions about what we want will take us beyond ‘pure’ economic categories just as surely as talking seriously about politics or technology will take us outside a narrowly specialised discourse once we want to now what they’re for. Human life is indeed a tapestry of diverse activities, not reducible to each other. It is not the case that all motivation is ‘really’ economic, that all relations are actually to do with exchange and the search for profit. Yet it can be said with some reason that economics in the sense of housekeeping is a background for other things; and because of that it is particularly important to keep an eye on its moral contours. Get this wrong and many other things go wrong, in respect of individual character as well as social relations.

We have taken good note of your proposal and comments.

Greetings MSM I would like to put a question forward to our leader, Pravind. Which seat do you find yourself occupying if you get into Parliament? VPM? Finance? Clearly, you have shown zero desire to lead the nation as a Prime Minister. Are you happy to throw away the entire team's hard work? Are you ready to forget the humiliation that this muppet subjected your father to? What about sitting down and taking on board what your members have to say? I have supported this party for as long as I can remember, but I regret to say that you have exterminated what the Father of the Mauritian Economy fought so hard to establish. MSM has forever been a party based on unwavering integrity, with the nation as the priority. What is YOUR priority??? Bring back the Incomparable SAJ! The nation has a soul, and it is crying out for mercy.

Be patient, Pravind Jugnauth will be in a position after the next general elections to spearhead the country towards new heights of socio-economic development. You'll be once again proud of the MSM.

Hey, I am currently not in Mauritius so I can't physically do a lot. However as shown in the MSM video, "nou l'avernir, c'est la jeunesse" I think we need to use the internet to our favour and get in touch with the Mauritian youth, home or away. This is why i think we should create an official Facebook page and create a buzz. Unfortunately, unlike me, other young people are not really interested in politcs but join our rallies just for the fun! Facebook will be a good tool to actually explain to them why we are here and what we want to do for the country but also for them! Good luck! If you do create the page, don't forget to send me an invitation. Take care Deenal Dhuny (No 7)

We are taking good note of your suggestion.

We are following you since quite long time and we see a new pravin daily with full of devotion and new ideas emerge from you for better stability in all sectors. we can never forget of the 30 years msm existence all undertakings of mauritius have scored tremendous achievements and an earth shaking change had taken place in its economy and soceity. The Msm party is inalienable part of our motherland closely united with all race and religions in the country with the vaste development under Sir Aneerood Jugnauth primeministership , our country was famous known of its talented, indusrious and courageous compatriots who have comtributed to historical process of creating the unified multi race and religions state of ours with golden rays of livings.MSM feed our country with all necessary basic living mechanism. Msm gave us all tools and machinery to break the wall of poverty to light of survival breath. We respect chacha ramgoolam who gave us independance, but we should not forget the father of development is Sir Aneerood Jugnauth. He painted mauritus with colours of peace, harmony, love among people, respect, good livings and many stability in all sectors. There was rapid economic growth and significant improvement of people living standards. History and reality have proven that without the MSM party of mauritius there would have not been a new and modern mauritius nor its developments and prosperity. Even the law of nature was happy with Msm, there was no drought, flood, there were good harvest, law and order was stable, there was no communalism, but today in the regime of actual government day by day our paradise island is being infected by poverty, murder crime, communalism, rape , women and children abuse are increasing, La drogue pe faire ravage, student are suffering, chomage pe augmenter cuma fizette. In 100 days we got 100 whips of problem. Today MSM leadership flag is under Pravin jugnauth, who has prove to be a good finance minister and minister of agriculture . We were happy of what he gave to la nation mauricien. today all our peaceful living and survival materials are being snatch little by little. the whole nation need you Mr pravin jugnauth. we trust you as we trusted Sir aneerood Jugnauth. Come and save the nation from further calamities. In your proposition we see you have promise to strenghen unity.,, to have better livings facilities , , there are also rejuvenating the country by good economy growth in fisheries and agriclutural field .... and sustainable developments. We hope you will focus on the central task of economic development and keep a firm grip on the two top priority of developing the economy and maintaining stability as well promote the transition from a progressively accelerated economy to a leapfrog development and from relative stability to a lasting peace so that our mauritius on the roof of the world will shine more brilliantly in the new century. Pravinji you are always welcome in sea of joy, drums and musical instrument are played to welcome you. Slogans are chanted and people of all walks of life such as farmers, students, intellectual, men, women, children, workers etc all welcome you and expressed their upmost hapiness by singing and dancing everytime in all grand festival . Whole mauritius need you and we await for you as our future PRIME MINISTER BECAUSE YOU ARE A MAN OF VISION. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU. VIVE MSM from USHAYA

what do you propose to eliminate poor parents burden on private tuitions, how is it possible that in school itself teachers neglects pupils and give preference on private tuitions. school should start at 9 and finish at 4 pm. what is your propositions to tackle the problem of juvenile deliquency at school and give rectors full support for punishment as it was in the past.

By eliminating the rat race competition at CPE level, the problem of private tuition will be tackled. Juvenile deliquency is a cause for concern and it will be addressed by the introduction of civic education in the curriculum in addition to a series of measures to redress the law & order situation in the country.

MSM! Now time to set up an ''ALLIANCE'' WITH MMM IN ORDER TO WIN IN 2010. MSM party did well in the past. We recognise in Sir Anerood as the father of the modern economy. We also believe that Mr Pravind can turn Mru into a duty free island... 5 years as minister in an ''ALLIANCE'' with the MMM and 2015; PRIME MINISTER OF MAURITIUS...

We live in Mauritius; we had the experience of the 2005 general elections. If we are realistic, we should understand that the only winning formula against the Alliance Sociale is to present Pravind Jugnauth as next Prime Minister.

Hi everybody, I am glad to find the MSM with so many young activists, members and especially the Leader. Don't care about the Soffres Survey. They are biased and anti-MSM. I just wished SAJ could have been 10 or 15 years younger. Anyway, I feel that Pravind is following his style and little by little he will surely prove himself. I am here to help him in that endeavour. I wish to join MSM and serve the party. I wish the MSM Etat Major to go through my CV and advise on the different ways I can be of help to MSM. But how can mail you my CV? Please advise. Best of luck. Hear from you soon. HUMBLE REQUEST: Please deal with my CV with strict confidentiality. Thanks.

Thanks for your interest to join the party. Please send your application letter and CV to the Leader directly on ther following address: Hon . Pravind Jugnauth Leader of the MSM Sun Trust Building Edith Cavell St Port Louis

Dear MSM leaders, It was with great pleasure that I read about the last gathering in Mauritius. I am delighted to see the revival, if I can say it like that, of the great MSM. I am currently working overseas and like many mauritian abroad, I do follow the local news. I would like to know how will the MSM, which I have no doubt will be the next ruling party will sort the following: (1) Boost the economic by maintaining the social equilibrium. No point generating wealth only for the wealthy. (2) What do you think of the major gambling projects going on. Turf/Casinos and Loteries? Is it not a legalise robery from the poor to the rich Thanking you in advance Long live MSM and long live SAJ.

We are pleased that even abroad your heart still beats for the MSM. Thanks a lot. As for your question, we concur with you that the proliferation of gambling activities will be detrimental to our society. We need to be careful and the MSM is closely monitoring the situation.

1983-2008: CELEBRATING 25 YRS OF UNWAVERING DEDICATION & PATRIOTISM TO OUR MOTHERLAND. April 1983- This year, this month remain etched in my memory as I welcomed my last- born sibling into the world. My joy knew no bounds. A day later, the greatest political party to ever rule Mauritius is born in the form of MSM. Always a fervent proponent of democracy and human rights, I have always believed that turning Mauritius into a paradise island, in every sense of the word, is a fairly laudable goal. The evidence lies in the economic redress brought about by SAJ and his team, following the gubernatorial days. The rigidity with which the party operates, the implacable zeal and renewed fervour offer hope to a highly disconcerted Mauritian nation. MSM is our sole saviour from what can only be referred to as a ‘first class fiasco’. What has the current government offered to the people so far? Insecurity in our homes, prices skyrocketing, our children subjected to an extremely controversial education system, absolute chaos in tourism, education, human rights, child protection…only to end with the ongoing list. Not to mention the sheer amount of verbiage expelled by the ‘prime minister’ (or should I say ‘prime sinister’?!!) of the country! He has regaled the disillusioned nation with tales of his so- called heroic actions- from childhood feats to rescue missions in London- (I wish I could elaborate on these, but alas, I think I would be upsetting the readers by reminding them of ‘ram katha’ and ‘exile’..!). It is time to shut them up. The nation has learned its lesson, albeit in the harsh way. Let the current members of the government be aware that when morals, health and lives of thousands are at stake, circumlocutions are out of place. Let us shun these politicasters, I say! Let us be led by great politicians, a true leader and die- hard Mauritians! To all fellow MSM members, I wish you all a very joyous celebration. MSM- The REAL deal!

Thanks for your kind words.

SAJ is my inspiration as he has been the charismatic leader and his strict governance and striking personality has done a lot of benefit to our growing nation since 1982 to 1995. Today, Pravind is showing the colours of the striking personality on the same path as his father, open and to the point. Pravind is showing that he is the leader ready to combat and eradicate the law and order situation prevailing in the country and the new Police Commissioner should understand the importance of handling this issue by using all his resources. Pravind, I wish you all the best and you will be the future Prime Minister of Mauritius. We are with you and you have and will always have all our support.

Hi MY DEAR , MSM BROTHERS AND SUISTERS It is in a logic move that we could see an alliance in between two brothers , the MSM AND the MMM emmerging once again.During these last days when going through the local papers on the web, I was trully shocked and suprise about the change in attitudes of grand frere to wards ti frere. Is this a sincere reaction? or is there something cooking underneath.? Any way future will tell us..... As to be raelistic it is true and it is in the interest of each and every Mauritian that an alliance is back on track and we have to take our time to take the proper and right decisions, ....we can not rush. I have any doubt at all that Pravin will bargain and go for the decent and best deal. As Grand frere in Goodlands last time said that 80% of th MMM suipporters are for an alliance with us, definitely it is our wish as well ...... As Grand frere in Goodlands last time said that 80% of th MMM suipporters are for an alliance with us, definitely it is our wish as well ...... Our leader, PRAVIN is right that we have to clear off the way towards a sincere and genuine negociation based in the interest of the whole population. THE MSM MMM NEW ALLIANCE MUST BE A TSUNAMI TO WASH AWAYTHE PTR AND HIS ALLIANCE, WITH THIER JEETHA, GOKHOOL , DULLAL WHO ARE CAUSING GRAET HARM TO OUR BELOVED MAURITIUS. GOOD LUCK PRAVIN WE ARE SURE YOU WILL LEAD US TO A SAFE DESTINATION ... long live msm SHIV kHUNTOO, lONDON 1ST AUGUST 2008

Rest assured. Our leader knows exactly how to lead the MSM to power at the next general elections.

Sir Aneerood Jugnauth and Sir Seewosagur Ramgoolam are unique, but there is only one Pravind Jugnauth.

Hello ALL, Should I begin to elaborate on the total disaster that is our current government? It certainly is not rocket science to see the ordeal that our beloved motherland is being put through. This is absolutely unnecessary. We have seen in the past what potential Mauritius has, and how the appropriate ruling party can maximise this potential for the betterment of all. Instead, what our nation is facing today can be summed up as misery and fear. Financially, the country is in the dark zone. I also stress on the paraphernalia surrounding Law & Order (I strongly wish for the earlier days when SAJ ran this place with commendable regimentation- not even a mosquito would dare be out of order!!). But nowadays, our children are being killed, raped, molested. Student dying in floods (Gokhool, that is entirely on your conscience. How you live with yourself is a mystery!), civilians depressed and seeing a very bleak future, investors shying away from out once-so-popular island..How long is the nation going to keep mum and accept these atocities?? I say we all get down to the streets and force these incompetent fools to 'lev pake aller'! They obviously do not possess enough pride and dignity to admit their faults, their broken promises and their greed. Honestly, if the nation decides, all is possible. Praveen you have the support of many. We believe in your leadership and straighforward route. MSM is an amazing political party that has only matured with the years. The presence of fresh young blood within the party, coupled with the experience of all the remaining veterans, makes MSM the party of the future. Let's all work for a better Mauritius- making it truly the star of the Indian Ocean and pride of Africa. We can do it if we put our back into it. And for that, we need you Praveen. May God bless our party and let justice be done to all Mauritians.

You are fully right in what you say: the MSM can redress the current messy situation and bring back smile on the faces of Mauritians.

Dear Friends of the MSM, Hope you are doing fine and wish the Party all the best for its 25th Anniversary. It is a huge moment in the history of the party and the country. Above all, it is an opportunity for the population to reflect the development and change that the country has experienced during the MSM reign from 1983 till 2005. What an achievement. Hats off to SAJ! You will always be remembered for what you did for the country .But unfortunately, it is not looking very good at the moment with such a bad government in place. Also, it is with great pain that I am writing this line to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the 4 victims of the 26th March 2008 disaster that hit the country. I hope that their soul rest in peace. It is a natural catastrophe and we have to bear it but consequences could have been different had some people taken due responsibility. It is a sad experience as it could have been any of our dear and loved ones. Hope that the PM keeps his words of taking care of these families through the Relief funds especially with Rs 5 Mn given by the MTC. The country is not being spared by the whole growing crisis and the latest food problems will have disastrous consequences if the authorities do not attend to them ASAP. As you are aware, similar situations have already manifested themselves in Haiti and this is dangerous for the economic and social stability of the country. The government should put its arrogance aside and work with the different NGO’s, political parties and other analysts of the economy to find a solution urgently. My other main concern that I will like to raise is the re-branding of the Cell plus name to Orange. FT would like to have the Cell-plus customer base so that it adds up to FT’s global customer base and allow it to compete with the likes of MTN, Telephonica 02 , which are its main competitors in the Mobile world. The Mobile world is fast-moving and dynamic. FT has a stronghold in Africa through its presence in over 200 countries in the World where it is competing with the Local brands. However, in Africa, it finds itself in a strong position to capture market shares by acquiring local brands and re-branding them. The main reason for this is for colonial reason where the French have ruled over the countries and hence making it easy for FT to strike a deal. By re-branding Cell plus to Orange, FT should be paying MT a loyalty and not the other way round. Also, FT promised new technologies will be introduced, have they provided anything in writing about their plans or the infrastructure to be implemented? This all sounds very dodgy. MT is ‘ the Hen with the Golden Eggs ‘ for Mauritius and FT recognised that. FT have a huge debt that they need to finance and they find in this deal a source of revenue to alleviate their cash flow situations…on the head of our people. Mr Sithanen is selling the assets of this country like ‘ hot cakes’. MT was given a new dimension by SAJ government to make it among one of the main revenue streams of the country. FT holds 40% in MT and now they are taking over the cell plus brand. The government did not think about the employees who are also a stakeholder of the Group and should have their say in any such a deal. I wonder what will be the next thing that the present government have in their mind to sell….. I just hope that the country goes to the Poll ASAP before its too late to salvage anything from this ‘cursed government’. I am sure that MSM will be definitely the party which will form the next government in the best interest of the nation.

Thanks for you useful and very pertinent comments. We leave it to our countrymen to have their own judgment on the MT-Orange deal.

Hi Pravin, I hear ‘rumours’ that an Alliance ‘Bleu – Blanc – Rouge’ is under way. Please be careful. The PTR is in deep trouble and is looking for ‘Secours’. Dnt fall in the trap of the ‘ruse lion sans dents’. Alliance Sociale pe degrengoler et ou trouver comment so bannes partisans pe quitte bat pe sauver. Comme dirai l’anglais ‘all the rates are leaving the sinking boat’. I don’t understand the character of these self-fish politicians who can so easily change positions for their own vested interest. Mr Baichoo, Dullo, Issack…your attitude stinks. We at the MSM, we do not tolerate and accept bannes ‘roders boutes’. Remember how Baichoo and the others left the MSM in 2005 and got into AS ‘ pou gagne un Poste Ministre’ . Bonne Chance…destination ‘ caro canne’. So, Pravin be careful of the ‘ carapates ‘ who are flying around at the moment and ‘ pe rode nouveau maitres.’ Currently MSM is the most stable and reliable party in the country. I am sure that the others realise that and know that the winning partner for the next election is the MSM. We just have to wait and even if we go to the elections on our own : ‘ a 3 race course – MSM have the ability, potential and elements to win and form the next government.’ Lets wait and see. En Avant avec le MSM - The future of Mauritius lies with us.

VIVE l'ILE MAURICE VIVE A NATION ARC EN CIEL VIVE LE MSM VIVE PRAVIN NOTRE SAUVEUR..... BON ANNIVERSSAIRE AVOUS TOUS ET QUE CES 25 ANS SOIT L'ELEMENT CATALISEUR POUR LE PROGRES ET L'AVANCEMENT DE NOTRE MERE PATRIE

L'avenir appartient définitivement au MSM.

we have witnessed another demagogy in the political history of the MMM. I can still remember when Paul Berenger said that he would never welcome "transfuges" in his party. As always, TON POLO does the opposite of what he says. We witnessed how he welcomed Mr Lutchmenaraidoo. The MMM have always praised themselves as being the best team to rule the country and everytime MMM are in the opposition, they always shout on the rooftops that they have the solutions to every problems. What did Berenger do when he was in power from 2000-2005. Now Mr Berenger thinks that Mr Lutchmeenaraidoo is the key to all the problems in Mauritius. Let's not forget that Mr Lutchmeeranaidoo was refused to stand as a Labour candidate for the last general election. Though Lutchmeenaraidoo started his political career with the MMM, we should forget that he opposed to any alliance with the MMM in 1990. In 1983, Mr lutchmeeranaidoo attacked the 1982 budget of Berenger.

HI ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS , FIRST OF ALL I NEED TO CONGRATULATE THE WOMEN WING OF OUR BELOVED PARTY WHO AS YEAR AFTER YEAR ARE KEEPING ON GATHERING AT THE SUNTRUST BUILDING TO CELEBRATE THEIR DAY. A DAY REALLY TO BE MARKED AS THE CONTRIBUTION OF WOMEN IN OUR COUNTRY IS TRULLY REMARKABLE. ONCE AGAIN A BIG BRAVO. IT IS WITH A SENSE OF PROUD TO VIEW ALL THESE PICTURES ON OUR WEBSITE, WHICH CLREARLY DEPICT THE DETERMINATION AND COURAGE OF THESE WOMEN TO GIVE A BOOST TO OUR DEAR LEARDER PRAVIN AND HIS TEAM . AS SOMETHING AT THE HORIZON CAN BE SEEN, THAT THE TIME FOR OUR PARTY TO BE BACK IN POWER IS NOT THAT FAR,AS OUR RAINBOW NATION IS WAITING FOR THE ON GOING CONTRIBUTION OF THE MSM FOR A BETTER MAURITUIS DURING ALL THE TIMES WE HAVE BEEN GOVERNING. WITH THE MSM WE COULD CONSIDER OURSELVES TO BE IN SECURITY, AS PEACE AND HARMONY COULD BE FELT AND ON THE OTHER HAND OUR LITTLE MAURITIUS WAS DEVELOPING..... SO THE MSM IS A PARTY FOR EACH AND EVERYONE AND SINCE ITS FOUNDATION, ITS OBJECTIVES WERE TO UPGRADE MAURITIUS AND MAKE IT VISIBLE ON THE WORLD MAP. MSM DID IT AS OUR FIRST AND DEAR SIR ANEEROOD HAS SUCH A VISION, WITH THE MSM IN THE NEXT GOVERNMENT I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THE SAME IDEOLOGIES WILL BE MAINTYAINED. AS MAURITIAN, WE ALL LOVE OUR LITTLE BELOVED COUNTRY. MAKE MAY 1ST THIS YEAR TO BE A MUST DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS SO THAT OUR LEADER WHO I PERSONALLY KNOW TO BE A BIG FIGHTER, GAIN ADVANTAGE OF COURAGE AND MOTIVATION FOR THE FORTHCOMING SITUATIONS. It is with great pleasure and pride that I am typing this message. Even though I am miles away from the country, there is still that strong sense of being a Mauritian runs within me. It is with Pride and Dignity that I tell people that I am from Mauritius. The first impression they have is ' wow...Mauritius'. It is sad however that the situation in the country is not the same for numerous reasons: 1. Bad Governance- In his Independence day message, the PM is asking people to keep a Smile. How can people do this when a situation of declining law and order, rising unemployment , price increases even on the most basis necessities among a few to mention are plaguing the lives of the citizens? 2. Education Crisis I will not evoke the recent blunders with regards to the HSC results of 19 students, which I am sure would have caused a huge inconvenience to both the students and their parents. Someone has to take the Blame on that. The PM said in this speech at Flacq that SSR introduced free education in 1976 so that everyone can be educated and have a better future and nobody can take them for a ride. So what does removing the Subsidies for SC and HSC exams entail? Use your Brains….this means that students who come from poor family background will not have an equal chance as those from rich backgrounds. This is like the PM himself whose dad spent huge money sending him to London School of Economics ( LSE) and he achieved nothing and I am sure if this chance was given to someone else , it would have made a real difference. Again, in his message to the students, he stated that it doesn’t matter which college the students attend but its the end result that counts. How does he expect this if he is taking that subsidy away? Has he ever stepped into the house of those poor people who cannot even afford a full meal daily , how does he expect them to pay for the exuberant exam fees? Wake up Mr. Ramgoolam I am one of those lucky ones who have enjoyed the better life in Mauritius whilst SAJ and the MSM have been in Power. Quality of life, standard of living, economic growth, development and Investment were at their peak. I am sure there are many more people out there who experienced and shared the economic boom that the country witnessed between 1983 -1995. However, the population’s mistake of 1995 to hand power to an inexperienced and careless government led to serious disturbances. Luckily with the mistake being rectified in 2000, the population had a new breath of fresh air and aspiration. Sadly enough, the dirty communal campaign of the AS in 2005 again rendered power to those ' Alibaba et 32 Voleurs ' and their allies who are like vultures eating the cake of success that the MSM took years to bake. Being a Patriot of the country, I recognize the efforts of SSR and other people involved in the fight for Independence. However, people should not forget that MSM through the leadership of SAJ has been instrumental in the social , economic and technological development of Mauritius. It is sad that the PM is trying to bypass this very important period in the history of the country only because this happened while the MSM was in power. This is childish behaviour Mr Ramgoolam. In 1995 , as soon as you won the elections, you changed the Stadium in Belle Vue from SAJ Stadium to Anjalay coopen. However, when the MSM reverted back to power in 2000, they did not change any names that bore SSR on them. This is called RESPECT, which I am afraid you do not have or may be you are too arrogant and have too much ego to appreciate that SSR and SAJ did a lot for this country but not YOU!!!!!!!!! I am not sure if you will be re-elected again but when you lose the next elections ( which you most likely will),then on your trip back to London, take some time to sit on the Waterloo Bridge to reflect that you are an absolute failure. Take some time to sort yourself out and please do not spend too much time roaming all the pubs and clubs down Leicester square. This is a clear signal for you to ' leve pake alle'.

LAW AND ORDER IN MAURITIUS SHOULD CAPITAL PUNISHMENT BE RE-INTRODUCED OR NOT? HERE IS THE ANSWER!!!! The objective of any government is to create the necessary conditions which are conductive to peace and social harmony. It is within such a framework that the individual can realize his aspirations. Law is a system of rules and regulations devised to maintain peace and harmony within a given society. In the absence of law and order, anarchy and chaos prevail. The law of the jungle then becomes the order of the day. That is the case in Mauritius. Unfortunately the actual Government of Mauritius is pretending as if everything is normal in Mauritius. It can be seen by a child, that violence and criminal acts are in ascendance in Mauritius. There are so many examples to prove this fact. For instance, the recent “Lallmatie” killing-describe as sorcery killing, armed people attacking the “Abercombie Police Station”, it is common nowadays to read in the newspapers that: “A tourist’s bag has been snatched” “A taxi driver being robbed or even murdered” “A girl of tender age being raped or subjected to sexual atrocities” “Old and lonely woman being strangled and their money stolen” Where are we going in this country????Is it the same ‘Paradise Island’????Why is the Government taking it so lightly??? It is clear as mirror that our system of law and order is not efficient and stringent enough to act as a deterrent to criminals and would-be criminals. It is indeed an irony to see that a notorious criminal has been let free after two or three years in jail and back in “Business”. The only solution is to bring back CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!!! Thanks God, that in Mauritius we still have Caring, Understanding & Realizing Politicians. Who can it be other than the MSM party with such a young and dynamic leader-PRAVIND JUGNAUTH… He along with his team is doing a great job… “Capital Punishment should be reintroduced or not” Lets us analyzed it together!!! Capital punishment also referred to as death penalty. The death penalty has existed throughout the history of man. In ancient times, capital punishment was imposed according to the Mosiac Laws of Moses. The Mosiac Law of ‘an eye for an eye’ and ‘a tooth for a tooth’. If you use violence, expect violence. Some forms of capital punishment employed in the past included: 1) Boiling 2) Burning 3) Crucifying 4) Stoning 5) Strangling In other countries, criminals were thrown to crocodiles. If a person committed a murder in Roman times, he was taken to an altitude of some 100 feet and then pushed to his death. Another way of killing, was to tie the criminal to a foot of an elephant and drag him along, after which the elephant would crush him beneath its foot. The death penalty is still implemented, in many countries, including the state of Texas in the USA, China, Singapore & Malaysia, but the methods of killing have become more sophisticated. In America, there is the notorious electric chair, and there is also the execution by lethal injection. The question whether or not it is right to impose the death sentence is highly debatable. On the one hand, there are opponents of capital punishment, commonly known as abolitionists, namely Amnesty International which is an organization militating for the abolition of death penalty all over the world. On the other hand, the proponents of capital punishment are anti-abolitionists and would favor the maintenance of the death penalty for serious crimes, such as drug-trafficking, rapes and serial killing. ARGUMENTS According to abolitionists, it is argued that the offender is not to be blamed entirely for the crime that he commits, because it is society which has not provided him with the the right type of education and environment. In other words, man is not born a criminal but made by social circumstances, such as poverty. This argument is highly misleading and insulting; because not all poor people turn out to be criminals… On the contrary, they are hard-working and law-abiding citizens. According to psychologists, a murderer may not be a mentally disturbed person, who becomes a victim of circumstances, may be a mentally disturbed person, and they claim that a person who is mentally ill, is not guilty of his actions. If we agree with this argument, it would mean that potential offenders would be encouraged to indulge in criminal activity and then plead innocent on grounds insanity. Another factor is that a criminal condemned to die may have committed a murder under provocation or self-defense; or in a moment of passion, anger of fury. If a murderer is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, his faculty of reasoning is impaired and he is not able to realize the consequences of his actions. For someone to be condemned to death, the court must prove that the offender is able to make a rational assessment. It is also argued that no one has the right to take another man’s life, not even that of a killer or murderer. Death Penalty is not justified on moral or religious grounds. (Human life is God-given and no one has the right to take away what god has given). The life of the victim also is sacred. The rights of victims are more important than the rights of criminals. The bulk of population are peaceful and law-abiding, and their security must have precedence (priority) over the humans rights of people who have no respect for human life. Yet, another argument against Capital Punishment is that it has not acted as a deterrent, crime rates, including murder and rapes continue to raise in spite of death penalty. In Singapore, there is virtually no crime due to death penalty. List of factors which can account for the high rate of criminality in society: 1) Poor environment. 2) Broken homes, where there is a lack of potential support and guidance. 3) Undesirable peer group. 4) Drug addiction and alcohol abuse. 5) The mass media and other forms of entertainment which emphasize brutality and violence. 6) A justice system which is not harsh enough to fight against crime. Lets us focused on the last factors that is ‘A justice system which is not harsh enough to fight against crime’ It can be argued that punishment and imprisonment cannot be considered as the best solution to deal with crimes. The prison system has reformed no one. Prisons do not even deter people from committing any crimes. This is illustrated by the fact that the biggest part of the prison population consists of repeat offenders or recidivists, or habitual criminals. Many criminals are released after a long period of time and are free to return to society, where they go on committing offences until they are caught again. Such prisons do not carry out the first mission which is punishment in an acceptable way. The second tasks of prisons are rehabilitation prisoners. People who go to prison are supposed to return to society as reform citizens. But everyone knows that this is a myth. There is a strong need for restructuring the prison system and the law itself in Mauritius. Everyday we are witnessing acts of violence, in order to improve law and order in Mauritius, the following measures must be adopted… -Capital punishment should be introduced. -Severe types of punishment such as chopping the hand and stone to death should be introduced. -Heavy fines should be introduced. This would be a sum of money paid by culprit as a punishment. - Helping minor offenders instead of punishing them. Instead of isolating him from the society, we should establish the factors responsible for his criminal activities and help him to remove these factors. For example, if a person turns to crime because of drug addiction, the authorities should help him to get rid of this drug habit and follow up with proper counseling. The aim is to turn the minor criminals into normal person so that when they leave prison, he can fit himself into society, just like any law abiding citizen. -General education and character formation of the offenders. -Recruitment of more law officers and policemen so that to ensure a good security. To conclude the law should be the watchdog of society. It should have enough biting power and stringent enough to deter would-be criminals. I would also like the thanks PRAVIND for the marvelous job he’s doing… Constituency N0.4 is with you, Good Luck...

Thank you for your comments. Pravind has proposed a series of actions to tackle the problem of law & order, not only capital punishment.

For the first time in my life, I realise that I no longer belong to a political party... in fact I belong to 2 political parties... the MMM because of history and the leader... the MSM because of a leader I truly believe in as well as the way the MSM has built Mauritius... but there's one thing I am sure of... I will never vote where PTR (or whatever galimatia) is even if there is a coalition (I hope not)... I can bet this is the situation for a majority of other people... the MSM and the MMM should decide once and for all, Pravind should start contemplating the idea of sharing the prime ministership... ena 60-0 dans l'air... don't miss that wonderful occasion...

Let us be frank: contemplating the sharing of Primeministership with Paul Bérenger is a recipe for defeat. Can we afford to give such a gift to the Alliance Sociale?

Do you think 'GRAND FRERE' really cares for the country? Had it been the case, he would have already understood Pravind's position which is the only recipe to win. Content pas content coalition MMM/MSM bizin 50/50... the essence is not to win the election "at all cost" (which has been proved time and again to be a really bad idea) but to win it with panache like we always did... we should respect our partner's integrity.

What Pravind is saying is simply realistic. It is the only recipe to win as you say.

Hope you can change Mauritius in one day! One thing you should keep in mind: Pravind emulates SAJ in being an examplary husband; an exemplary father; an exemplary son and an exemplary leader. Mauritius needs leaders with vision not sons who are emulating their fathers.

You should know that Pravind Jugnauth has demonstrated his vision when he courageously manned the sugar reform process in 2001 and launched the ambitious project of transforming Mauritius into a Duty Free island in 2005. Emulating a father like Sir Anerood Jugnauth is indeed a reference and a pride but the country has come to understand the qualities that make of Pravind Jugnauth a leader who not only has vision but compassion to serve the country and provide opportunities for all Mauritians to progress and prosper. Don't try to compare diamond with charcoal!

Do u think that i must leave school and instead work?? Why is RAMGOOLAM doing so? Don't he cares 4 anyone here? The 1st time i took part 4 ze exams my sis also was takin part for ze HSC exams and we did not get any help from ze "securite social" instead we've got to reduce our expenses,we had to buy less thing to eat etc... .What's happenin here?? Why is everyone standing and lookin quietly? Are they afraid of realisin that we are not being able to live?

You know how the MSM has stood along parents and students last year within the Education Platform to force Sithanen to concede 25% subsidies. People need to come down to the streets to make this Government react. The Education Platform is organising a 'manifestation' on 22 February at Marie Reine de la Paix, Port Louis as from 3 pm. Come with your friends, parents and relatives to voice your feelings. We hope this government comes to understand that nobody has the right to play with the future of our youngsters.

I found Pravin's reaction as usual very realistic and straight and needs to be supported. This is the reason why I rushed to a cyber caffee in London where i am, as it is the only way i can give a helping hand to our beloved party. A moral support sometimes is benefical and i will seize this opportunity to invite all Mauritian who are not in the country and who have a firm belief and want to see our dear leader and the MSM leading the destiny of our beloved Mauritius to do so. Good LUCK Pravin. By the way, first of all, I seize this opprtunity to wish you a happy birthday and may that new step in your life brings you lots of success as surely the good grain you are sowing now will shortly reaps sweet and juicy fruits for our rainbow nation.... keep it up. Secondly, through this email I wish all our brothers and sisters a Merry XMASS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008 and have no doubt will be highly fruitful for the MSM. Shiv from LONDON Dec 20, 2007

Unfortunately due to the distance that exists, I can only follow things from here. I have made several requests to join the youth team but all my attempts have been unsuccesful. I would like to work and promote the party remotely, espcially due to my deep involvement and influence here among the Mauritian Community. I would very much appreciate if my membership can be considered and I will be more than happy to help and participate in forums an debates that the party may involve/ engage into. Every idea helps.... Hope to hear back soon....

Hi everybody! Why not capitalise on the failure of the MES (Ministerial responsibilty-Education), misleading figure of FDI (Finance), failure to curb down inflation and failure to listen to the "misere noires du peuple" (Commerce & Consumer Protection)? Rashid is right. The country needs new and young blood with new and global ideas, modern vision in the context of Mauritius and which is condusive to the Third Millennium, commitment to excel, determination to save the country from socio-economic problems and a craving desire to save the country from potential wreck. The country really need a government who can govern and manage the country by coming forward with techniques/methods to solve the critical economic problems and not to perpetually hide behind "international rise/inflation". A government is presumably elected to deal with social, economic and political problems and not to use unreasonable arguments to justify inaction. Regards An Observer

The MSM has the vision and the team to redress the current situation and bring back a feel good factor for everyone in the country. The party has proved what it can do in favour of the people. The MSM has delivered in even more difficult circumstances.

Hi, I am Nitin from constituency No 16, that of Hon N.BODHA. Personnaly, i congratulate all members of MSM in the parliament for their excellent work since 2005. I think Pravind should now decide what he will do in the forthcoming general elections 2010. If he decides to go alone to fight the elections, it is high time to start organising monthly meetings in each constituency and why not a general meeting every three months to keep in touch with the people who are suffering due to the greediness of Ramgoolam, Beebeejaun, Jeetha and Sithanen.

We have taken note of your suggestions. Don't worry, Pravind knows exactly what he is doing to steer the MSM to power. Have some patience.

With regards to my previous query, i have a suggestion to the MSM Party. Its good that all the new recruits have been assigned responsibilities but it would be good for the party and for the new recruits, that the leader present these people to the press and mediatise the new comers. To my knowledge Sada Etwaroo come from MR,Yahya Paraouty, Deepak Balgobin, Yogida Sawmynaden from MMM, Hurrynand Jhundoo from PTr etc.. This will have a good impact. Those going through the website knows these information but the whole population doesnt know. I would suggest to mediatise these people. Your comments please?

For your information, all the new recruits you have mentioned have been mediatised both in the press and on our website. Moreover, the leader has personally introduced them to their respective regional committees. Sada Etwaroo and Yahya Paraouty have addressed congressists at the Vacoas and Plaine Verte meetings respectively, while Yogida Sawmynaden will have the same opportunity at our congress in Saint Pierre on the 8th August.

Security in the Country Hi, i wanted to share my view on a very critical issue such as the Security in the country. Like many mauritians should have observed, that we are l iving in a stae of fear...anytime, anywhere, we can be robbed, attacked, raped. I have observed this every time that the PTR is holding office. This is really a shame. The security of the citizens should be a priority to any government. Woould be very keen to ask the Hon. Nand Bodha to put this question to the Leader of the House in the future.

The Leader of the Opposition has already adressed two PNQs to the Prime Minister on the issue of law & order. It seems that the PM is not bothered by the problem as he repeatedly says that in terms of numbers there are no increases in crimes committed. You are right in being anxious as the atrocity of crimes committed these days are bewildering!!

hi! i would be grateful to know the views of the msm on the issue of Manand fakoo. is it true that he is most of the time at brown sequard instead of la bastille? if so, the msm needs to express such matters in public so that everyone knows wat kind of things are happening in the country... wat abt good governance n justice? please do metion that on radios and newspapers if that is the case!!! itz a definite shame.

Dear Venilla, We have always disclosed the chaos prevailing in the law and order situation in our country.Manan Fakoo's case was the subject of one of our very first articles in this web site itself and msm members have drawn attention to his case all over the country.Thank you for sharing your concern with us.
